Is it normal to have to constantly have to do resets or reprogram engines to keep all of the features working properly?  All of my ps2 engines seem to have features stop working from time to time.  So far they all have been fixed by resets or when that doesn't work downloading the software again.

On average from 4 ps2 engines that i run or try to run a lot they have to be reset/reprogrammed on every fifth or sixth startup (some better than others)

Batteries are good in all cases, sounds and lights go through entire shutdown when the power is cut.

Is this normal or am i doing something wrong?

No not normal, but how you configured them to run may be a factor.   Normally this is a battery issue.  I just ran into this yesterday.  Engine reset would not hold data.  It did play shutdown sounds, but stopped short of a complete shutdown.  New battery cleared issue.  So I would try full charging all batteries, but if they are older than 5 for 8.4V or 7 for 2.4V consider changing them.  G

Thank you G, I had chance today to look at the one that was aggravating me the other night.  The battery in it I think was replaced 2 or so years ago but didn't seem real strong.  I put an 9v in to test and ran it around a bit seemed to be ok so I will get a new battery ordered.

I double checked the other two that are on the track and they do go through the full shutdown/blowdown sequence.  As far as the configuration, they are pretty much left the way the factory program is.

May be that I just don't run them regular enough?  Mine often set for several weeks at a time.  Possible that the batteries get low then just don't get a full charge when I do start them.  Maybe a bcr would be the way to go?
