Anyone seen or owns a Lionel 460 Truck Transport Set? It includes a special flat car, a pair of Truck Trailers and a loading and unloading platform (or Piggyback Platform) with a manually operated fork lift.
The platform is operated manually and must be located for operator access. These factors may have limited the accessories popularity with model train layout owners.
Any reviews or opinions on the Lionel 460 Truck Transport Set?

I have both that and the similar radioactive waste 462 Derrick Platform unloader.
As you say both need to be close by. Because the 460 has two controls one dial and a lift lever, while the 462 has three (3) dials and a hoist lever, that both need some level of coordination it is not automated like the lumber unloader.
There was a post a couple of years ago about someone that had modified the 460 to have motors. It was pretty cool. There was an article in Classic Toy Trains that documented how he did it. I can't seem to find it though.
