I picked up some items in a local auction over the weekend.  Included was this Lionel 6058 Chesapeake & Ohio caboose.  According to most information I can find it was made one year and should just be a basic caboose with tabs holding the car to the frame.  It apparently originally came with blue or black printing with this caboose having the black printing.  As you can see it is unusual as it has a metal smoke stack, interior windows, lighting and a full frame with tool box.  The body is screwed to the frame.  There is ONE picture I can find at the Worthpoint auction site that appears identical to this but I'm not a member so I can't see what it sold for.  The Worthpoint auction seems to point out that the details were added but since this one is identical, I'm not so sure.  It would be nice to find out if there are others like this and if they might have come with a set.  It needs a little cleaning but is really quite nice odd ball item.PXL_20240830_011529857PXL_20240830_011537228PXL_20240830_011542583

That's a nice looking caboose for sure. Would be terrific if it turns out to be something unusual and a real keeper!

When I saw your photo of it a dim image jumped forth from the dark recesses of my memory bank and seems I saw this yellow unit portrayed as something special in one of the old TM books or perhaps a Greenberg guide...

When i first saw this in the auction, I thought it was really nice looking and even the basic model is not common.  It is going right on the shelf with my cabeese collection.

I would be interested if you can remember where you may have seen this.  I have some old Greenberg guides so I will look through them.  I was considering registering to Worthpoint to find out what this sold for but they require registration with a credit card and I've become very wary of giving ANYONE my credit card information.  Maybe someone on here is registered and can look it up for me.

One of the things I love about the hobby is finding unusual items and bringing them home.  Kind of like hunting and bringing home the prize.

This group in the auction also had what the folks here helped me identify as probably a Weaver ACF Alaska Hopper (picture below).  This also seems to be unusual since I can't find a reference to it anywhere in my internet seaches.  Again, a really nice looking item PXL_20240825_131956222
