I saw this on another forum, some pictures anyway! So I made one and thought I'd give it a try. I've given it a quick test and it does work. I'll really be able to put it through it's paces soon.      Stephen     (cTr.....Choose the Right) & (There's power in Service)

What is the story behind this particular tool?

The Genesis of this design was used to install spikes in Tru-Scale milled roadbed circa 1950.

That road bed had ties and tieplates milled out one piece over 1/4"+ thick sections of curved and straight roadbed.  You would set the rails between the tieplate nodules, drop four brads down their respective holes in the lower half they plunge the four pin top half into the four holes all at once to drive the spikes home.

It used round head nails.

Is this variation set for spikes or round heads? tt
