I have an Atlas RSD5 engine and one of the smaller gears meshing with a driver wheel gear has somehow lost teeth and causes a bind up of the assembly. Can such a gear be replaced and, if so, how do you disassemble the truck to access the gear. I've never tackled this before. Have done electronics like ERR upgrades but never have taken the gear box and truck apart. I even have no idea how to remove the truck from the engine body. HELP please if you have done this before. Thanks for reading.

Miguelito,
It might be wise to send this back to Atlas as the wheels may have to be pulled from the axles. This will give Atlas a chance to see what might be problem.
The intermediate gears are pressed in place. I'd just pull the truck and send it in to Atlas. I doubt it would cost you much, they might even do it for free. Call Atlas and check it out. Their service guys are friendly and helpful. You'll most likely get it back quicker than you could get the parts and do it yourself.
There is a reason the gear teeth are missing. Just replacing the broken gear may not solve the problem. There may also be damage to meshing gears. I've had trucks jam when ballast got stuck in the gears but never one of the external gears break. Mike
But HOW do you "pull" the truck? I've never done this before and need more or less step by step instructions so that I don't ruin anything

Send the unit back complete. Get an RGA from Atlas, (Returns Good Authorization). They are usually pretty good about quoting repair cost, once they have the unit. This also allows the technician who does the repair to test the unit.
IMO.
