With all the hardware you have now is it even possible to get them all on the track at the same time? .
I agree with your rating on the cool factor.
We need to see a video of the whole unit mobilizing!!!
Thanks, BigTruckPete. The truth is that the train is now so long and heavy it will take at least two big huffers and puffers to pull it on level terrain. I have about 19 flat cars with heavy equipment, two box cars including the LCCA car, and four Weaver troop sleepers. The drawback is I have no layout, LOLOL. I currently have an oval of Fastrack on the tile floor where the MUnoz Lines used to be.
That is really cool! Great modeling and that Corsair is beautiful....great job General!
I like it! Hope to see you with another layout in the future. Loved the last one for sure.
Nice work, General - looks great! Put your feet up and have a cold one; but be careful!
Nice!
Mike
Eliot, very nice!! The Corsair is my favorite plane
Alex
Eliot, when does the new layout construction begin?
Scrappy,
Looks great, now the General definitely need a Layout for his Military Train!
FIREWOOD,
Great old John Wayne & Lee Emery Coors Commercial!

Very nice. Flat would have been nice in a New Haven line since the Corsair was made here in Stratford, CT.
Very nice, General. Of course you realize that the Corsair is a Navy airplane, right?
George
G37509 . . . . Ummmmmm, no. General Scrapiron did not know that. Now, I will have to put a submarine on a flat car.

Fair enough. Looks really nice like that!

You should probably make certain the submarine has screen doors.
But the Corsair really looks great on that flatcar! No kidding, I like it!
If you're looking for Army Air Corp. fighters of the period, there are a ton of P-40 Warhawks / Tomahawks, etc. out there. Other Army planes of the period are the P-47 Republic, P-38 Lightning, and the P-51 Mustang. Carrier-based Navy fighters and bombers of World War II are the aforementioned Corsair, F4F Wildcat, F6F Hellcat, Helldiver, TBD Devastator, TBM/TBF Avenger, and SBD Dauntless (fairly certain I'm forgetting something). The Marines flew the Corsair as well and probably something else before it came along.
So, is there a new layout on the way? What kind and when?
George
The Marines had Corsairs too, remember Pappy Boyington and the Black Sheep Squadron???
So you're still good to go there General Scher (closest thing to a salute emoji they have).
Thanks to all of you for the kind words. It is a bit of a journey for someone who fell in love with scale realism in model railroading. I guess I have always loved the military loads and I "****ed the torpedoes" in moving ahead. My train will be fun to run if the next layout ever gets built. I have been working on a top secret project completely unrelated to trains and model railroading. That's my way of saying I am working on something I have been afraid to do my entire life. Now, I have decided to face the dragon and do it. The railroad will have to wait.
I anticipate that I may begin building a layout next year and I will need plenty of guidance from all of you on the Forum.
Great job!

Except for the landing gear!
The left side is on the right and the right side is on the left.
Nicely done.
Big Jim,
Really?

Yeah, really.
Compare the pictures above. The wheel faces out, not in.
General? Maybe Private. Nice pics. Enjoy.
Eliot,
The Japanese nicknamed the Corsair..."Whistling Death". Do you see where I'm going with this?

Elliot, Your post are always amusing. A picture of you playing trains laying on the tile floor with your general's uniform on would be priceless.
I'm going to think of it as a scale model in route to the Mariner's Museum for display.

Yeah, I thought of it like those cars that have a grossly out of scale Saturn V on them. I consider stuff like that to be a model of a model. Works out fine when viewed that way!
I think the weirdest one I've seen is Lionel's "Santa's Submarine" on a flat car; presumably to handle the polar workshop melting?
