Any of those but,,,,,,,,,,NOT "drive"!
Loco driver is a correct term in the UK.

But,,,,,,,,,this is the U.S.A. and such is NOT the case in our country, nor in Canada nor in Mexico.

That's fine for them, but not in the U.S.A and Canada and Mexico.
Snkbittin, that is one nice birthday present. Are you actually going to get to run a Mikado with just one hour's classroom training? I hope you are going to keep us posted as to your experiences doing this.
And tell your wife she's scoring a home run with this present. 😁
Good on that, especially if it is steam. There are opportunities to run diesels, but this may be the first l've heard to run steam. Dunno if an hour would be enough for me to learn how to stop one if l got it rolling, which would be my concern. An envied opportunity.

The FWRHS has done this a few times with NKP 765.
If they do it again in the future, I need to get over there. It's on my bucket list.
You will have a blast. I did that there back in 2009. Also a present from my wife. You'll spend about in hour in the class and then you will run the engine for an hour during your time slot. The crew was great. The more you know, the more they seem to let you do.
My wife also got me the Hand on the Throttle at Valley RR a few years ago. I did both the Mike and the diesel. What a great time. The Mike is one of the Chinese ones imported several years ago. Rode behind it on the one a fan trip on the NYS&W. Valley modified the tender to have a more North American look. I know you'll have a blast.
Thanks Guys... Yes I have to study and there's a test!...she got me the super deluxe package so i get 2 hrs on the throttle..Im pumped..its for my 60th!
