I have a ABA set of Premier PA-1s I hadn't run for a while. I noticed one of the windshields had detached and was inside the lead engine. Of course, once I removed the shell, I discovered all the windows were loose and ready to fall off. I tried to re-glue the windshield with Zap and made a mess of it. I know "Super" type glues are famous for glazing clear plastics. Is there a trick to this or is there a more plastic safe glue available? The plastic windows are the thin plastic variety, the kind you can cut easily with scissors. I will need to stop by my LHS to see if I can find replacement window sheets and try this again. I know every window in this ABA set is most likely ready to pop off.

Thanks,

Rich

There is a clear drying glue. It may be Canopy Glue but I have not ever tried it.

I also recommend Canopy glue for plastic Windows. I have used it for a few years now with great results. The best thing with this glue is that it easily cleans up with water if you  make a mistake. It also has no odor and dries completely clear.

All good suggestions...I've used them all.

I'll add one....Super 'Phatic! glue, by Deluxe Materials, a UK company.  Their excellent products (various for model railroaders) are available in this country through retailers of Horizon Distributors.  We (LHS) have been stocking this glue for quite a while, and it is a major hit with the RC folks (airplanes, in particular!) as well as other hobby groups...trains included.

It does very well in bonding wood-to-plastic, for instance, and will not craze the plastic...drying clear.

FWIW department....

This is what I use. Its has almost the consistency of Elmer's glue... little less runny. It dries totally clear. You can make lenses for lights, glue windows back to the body of your engine/cars. You can also you can wipe it off wet or scrape it off once it dries. It doesn't dry hard or glaze the clear plastic and since its pretty tacky, it helps hold the pieces into place while the glue dries!

You can get it here: http://www.microscale.com/Merc...mp;Product_Code=MI-9. Also off Amazon or maybe at a local hobby shop.

Most glue dispensers will give you a glob of glue.  Instead, put a little glue in a cap or dish and use a straight pin to pickup just a drop of glue and put it where you want it.  You don't need a lot of glue to hold those windshield pieces in place.

The Tester's Clear Parts Cement has a very fine nozzle that makes it pretty easy to dispense right from the container.  The issue I usually have with their dispenser is the very fine nozzle can get plugged up easily, so I have a fine wire I use to clear it out.

I do keep a drawer of toothpicks for finer applications of various adhesives.

They used to supply a long fine wire to unstop the nozzle. I've lost mine, maybe it is that they are so fine my eyes can't see it anymore.

This stuff is pretty good. Used it to almost completely put together a 1/4 scale working visible HEMI engine. In large builds like this you really need to give the glue PLENTY of time to dry before going on to the next step.
