A question for Scott Mann that I thought other forumites may want answered.

Scott, any updates on the status of the REA Express Reefers?

Your recent post about the status of chinese factories wasn't very encouraging and suggests that we willnot see anything from Golden Gate any time soon.

Thanks for any updates.

We had samples of the REA express reefers at York last October and will have them there again in 2 weeks.  The production run is just about completed and ready to be shipped from China this month.

Additionally, samples of the GGD PRR Congressional Limited and NYC 1948 20th Century Limited trains will be at York. All of these came from China.

Finally the REAs are ready to ship to us. Some factories just are hard to deal with.

The point of my posts before, regarding the trials and tribulations in Chinese factories, was to answer the many doubts that we would be able to weather this storm. On the contrary, we are rockin.

The 1948 20th Century Cars left port of Qingdao April 2nd. Due to arrive on the 16th.

The PRR Congressional is in production and the samples, while PENNSYYVANIA was spelled wrong, are in production and will be completed later this month.

The REA cars are to be put in a container on April 15th.

The SP GS-4 Daylight sample will be at York.

The Erie S3/S4 design has been picked up by another builder and should be done late this year.

The N&W Strasburg Engine will be finished this fall.

The N&W TE-1 design will be started this summer.

The PRR L-1 and Horse Express, Theater Scenery and BM70M PRR Car Designs are done.

The E7 2nd Run is Planned for Summer.

The FL9 Design is in review by a few N&W Historical Senior Members.

We are busy, and in no way affected by factory closures.

Have a great spring. And come see us at York. We will have samples of these and more great models.

Cheers,

Scott Mann

Two thumbs up to Scott for is courteous and efficient customer service, his excellent products, and his skillful interaction with Asian manufacturing and design firms. He is too modest to admit that the success of Sunset/3rd Rail/Golden Gate is entirely attributable to the business practices planted by his late father Mort, and nurtured to new heights by Scott. What a pleasure it is to be a customer of a company that can always be trusted to do the right thing for the right reason. I sent payment for my four ATSF/REX cars last week. Building the Fast Mail a little at a time . . .
