Stunning! I have always liked that color scheme. Did K-Line do them?
I don't believe K-line ever did any Illinois Central passenger cars. However, MTH issued a set of their generic plastic cars in IC, but unfortunately, they are all shorty (70ft) cars. On the upside, their choice of colors for the brown and orange looks to be right on.

If you would like 1485 of them Scott can probably oblige. I'll take the other 15. Scott and Bob and Jonathan all bring up Amtrak at shows and get zip interest or enthusiasm. The usual response is "no, but I'll take a blah the way it was on October 19 1947 at 4PM when it was at new grade hauling 35 cars up the 2%."
RDUNNIII: Maybe Scott and company are going to the wrong shows!!!! Scott stated that 2-rail is a now most of his business so by not going to where the customers are may be a mistake. Does Sunset/GGD plan on going to the Indy or Chicago shows? I do not know.
I understand that Bob is in 3-rail so he may not be in the 2-rail loop as much a he should. The 3-rail people have items that the 2-rail people have never been offered (mostly made for the toy 3-rail). I for one would be interested in the Amtrak cars, but if they are not offered people can not order them. If Sunset does not get enough orders how hard is it to cancel the project. I was interested in the Amtrak RDCs but Scott said there is no interest. How does he know if he does not list them as a choice?
Scott listed several roads names for the E8 that I wanted and ordered but canceled them due to lack of orders. I have to give Scott credit that he a least offered them!
Scott will need to change some aspects of the business as we are not 3-rail minded and have higher standards and appetite for the prototype. Scott has greatly improved and has listened more that any of the big 3 companies. Kudos to Scott and Company! I would put Sunset and GGD on the top of any 2 rail company.
Just some observations,
Stephen

I find THAT hard to believe! Sunset/3rd Rail/Golden Gate Depot has been VERY WELL represented at BOTH 3-Rail and 2-Rail shows all over the nation, i.e. SOMEBODY from his company rarely misses ANY of the big shows.

Yes, Sunset/3rd Rail/Golden Gate Depot have been attending the Chicago O Scale March Meet for some 15 years, or more.
I do not know.

You have it backwards. Bob is, and has been, a 2-Rail scale modeler for about 40 or more years!

Stephen,
If by Bob you mean me, here are the facts:
I received my first O scale piece in 1955. Not Lionel - Athearn freight cars and started building them then. Drooled over the Max Gray offerings at Model Railroad Equipment Corporation in NYC several times per year starting in the mid 1950's. I have what I call an O scale Christmas garden that I keep up year round making me, I assume, an active O scaler.
The 2 rail shows I attend for Sunset/GGD annually are Chicago, 3 Strasburg shows, 2 Merchantville (Cherry Valley) shows, Timonium, MD multi scale show, O scale national convention if it is in Chicago or further east, Cleveland show in November.
Although I haven't been to Indy for several years due to schedule conflict I have been there for many previous years and expect to go again.
The only reason I attend the TCA York shows is to assist Scott since I live less than an hour from York. While Scott can speak the 3 rail electronics language I cannot but can address a number of real train issues. Plus, we keep many of the items displayed at York at my house.
I believe Sunset/GGD is present at the majority of 2 rail shows that are advertised in the 2 rail oriented publications.
Thank you for the clarification Bob and setting me straight. I look forward to meeting you at the Chicago show.

Wondering why we haven't seen a Union Pacific passenger set? With many FEF's and E units it seems like a moneymaker?
Well, Sunset did offer the Train of Tomorrow in the prototypically correct Union Pacific scheme (the GM train was sold to the UP after two years of touring) and while this was only four cars plus a single E-7, it does still qualify as a UP train.
Yes, the Wasatch brass cars have been long sold out and are very costly when you find a set. I bought several of the GGD generic U.P. cars, but with U.P. still running #844 and excursion trains it would be nice to run an accurate set.

Primarily due to the rivets on ACF built cars. Can't do an aluminum extrusion with rivets. However, things could change with the availability of rivet decals. No question UP would be a good seller and that fact is possibly - probably - no, make that definitely known by GGD.
Here's Seaboard Air Line Pullman-built (built 1950) coach #6269, ex-FEC Lantana, in IC colors, for the City Of Miami:
The Atlantic Coast Line also had cars painted in IC colors for the City Of Miami and The Seminole, as well as 2 coaches painted in PRR pin-stripes for the South Wind.

Bill:
Sorry that you have to resort to name calling. Brass Models has a photo of the Union Terminal Imports on line of the Central of Georgia dome but sorry to say it is sold already. By the way the MP dome that you stated does not exist did not have MISSOURI PACIFIC on the car, it had 'THE EAGLE' above the window. I personally do not care if the MP E8 is correct or not as it is not one that I ordered.
Best Regard and Happy Railroading, Stephen
Most cars carried the name Eagle or Colorado Eagle. They were later changed to the Eagle. The head end and services Cars Never said Missouri Pacific, they were Lettered Missouri Pacific Lines.
I only mentioned the E-8 T&P because you are quote the Expert consultant to SS GGD, so if you look at a drawing for review with this item on a model, you sir would have been wrong. And Tell Scott it's good to go for production, you would have caused him a lot of money and head aches.
So your credibility is still in Question as you and SS GGD move forward.

Guys...the moderators are getting alerts/complaints about some of the posts here. One of the moderators went through and edited and deleted but it simply takes too much time. Please keep the personal comments and abbreviated curse words out of this discussion...
Thanks,

Isn't it a surprise that it is always related to the same guy every time, i.e. NW2124?
Tattle tails.
Come gentlemen: be honest here. none of my post were deleted and I have been extra cautious with my post lately. so let's act accordingly. The moderators should not have to delete foul language. So let's get back to the subject of passenger projects that Atlas or GGD could do for everyone. there has been some great suggestion here. like the Wabash passenger Blue Bird Train with 34 cars most of which are repeats. The PS Dome has 8 paint schemes. A photo of the Central of Georgia dome is on page 99 of Domeliners by Zimmerman. Stephen
Road names for the PS Dome alone:
1) Wabash as Delivered
2) Wabash later Era
3) Norfolk and Western solid Blue with White Lettering
4) Southern
5) Missouri Pacific The Eagle to match Colorado Eagle Cars
6) Missouri Pacific Jenks Blue
7 Illinois Central
8) Central of Georgia
I have had it up to my eyeballs with some of the childish crap posted in this thread. I am tired of editing out the personal insults thrown by several of you that have posted here. Some of you really need to get a life.
