I also grabbed the the Burlington Bulletin #10 tonight to coincide with the studio review.

Just a note.. I can't believe I missed this.. DOH! The louvered air filter door for the main air reservoir that was located behind the cab bulkhead; this door immediately behind the cab doors is not a screen as depicted on the GGD E7 but on CB&Q E7's a shuttered door. The delivery state in 1945 was a shuttered door later changed to a smooth sheet metal door and in some cased completely removed in later years.

disposition:

CB&Q #9921-A

Built November/1945, C/N 2948, Later numbered BN 9921 (3/2/70), Traded for a SD45 9/3/70

-Maintenance Grab Irons added 1950-1955 no data is given as to exact date.

-Never received stainless panels.

The photo comparison above clearly shows the louvered air filter door. I think I can change this door, I will see what I can do.

This is "nit-picking" guys... I am just following through with the prototype versus the model thing..

Notice the Pennsylvania units came with louvers vs screens.  This is most likely an add on part, either plastic or a brass etching, and something else that can be changed easily.  And maybe spares sent with the second run to correct the first for those who notice.

Hey buddy, CB&Q Aficionado David Vandrunon at Caboose was telling me that for about 3-6 weeks in 1949 the very first batch of E7 units had the screen doors. The Q changed them over to the louvers very quickly; must have been a preference deal. Some units received a solid panel than louvers or screens. So technically its not wrong.. Interesting nonetheless.

No, the Mars Light assemblies could NOT be mounted on/in the nose doors of E and/or F units, since the Mars assembly was simply too big and heavy (probably would be unable to open the nose door with THAT much weight in it). Thus, the head light assembly was relocated to the door and the big Mars Light assemblies where mounted up in the top nose housing.
