Recently I got a few PS2 engines. One, the sound just quit out of  blue while in the middle of running. The other seems to have some kinda brain scramble from leaving a conventional layout to a DCS layout.

I am new to MTH and quite frankly dont know a dang thing about them to trouble shoot and really dont care to,My lionel stuff keeps me busy enough.

Is there a reliable place you guys send your MTH to be repaired in a TIMELY  manner?

Thanks

What kind of luck have you had with Paul and Bob?

 Yes Im near Pittsburgh,PA

Bob Barth in Perryopolis has a MTH National Authorized Service Center. Bob is a great guy who can repair anything from prewar to modern. He repaired a Lionel prewar locomotive and a new MTH LCT locomotive with PS2 for me and both were done in less than a week.

Paul and Bob don't do the repairs. Mike Brouse does. Check their website for info. They are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Paul is in the store Thursday - Sunday and Bob does Monday. Like I mentioned, Paul is heading out on a very well deserved and much needed vacation so Bob will be running the show. Give him a call. Check their website (www.cmtrains.com) for more info.

Catoctin Mountain's Mr. Mike Brouse is an excellent repairman. He's performed a variety of work for us from straight repairs to a PS2 upgrade on an MTH UP 4000 Class. Mike has shown an ability to be creative when necessary. For example, when our Lionel model of the Southern 4501 from the early 90s began to give us trouble a number of years ago, utilizing a mix of Lionel and MTH parts, he was able to correct the problems and upgrade the model to whatever the latest version of Railsounds was at the time. This ability to think "outside the box" is very handy when working on the new generation of locomotives particularly when parts appear to be in short supply or non-existent, period.

GGG just saved me a ton of money. He found found a burnt trace on one of the circuit boards and jumpered the break.. I was expecting to have to purchase a new board.

Having said that there are others that help out each day on the forum. Stan, Chuck, Marty to name a few. Flip a coin, they're all good and know their stuff in my opinion.

I second Mike's work.  Had a few items to him (MTH) and have been very pleased.  You can contact him through the store (Catoctin Mountain Trains in Thurmont, MD).  Might be a worth a trip there to pick up the repair - to see the store and meet the owner!  :-)
