No native New Yorker calls it Grand Central Terminal. Grew up in the Bronx and Queens and commuted to high school every single day through Grand Central. No one ever called it "terminal." It's pronounced Grand Central Station. By the way, from memory, I dont know that any station signage says "station?" Believe they all just say the name of the place, like Kingsbridge Road sign says "Kingsbridge Road," Pelham Parkway says "Pelham Parkway" etc. Just like I know the tourists when I'm down by Katz Deli getting my pastrami and pickles. Houston (hew-stun) street? Never heard of it. It's Houston (how-stun) street, ya knuckleheads. Lol. Peter

""""I am at least happy that passenger train collector was able to answer the OP's original question, before the thread got hijacked.

I don't normally agree with the moderators locking a thread, but this one has gone so far off topic, and has gotten somewhat personal, that this is a fitting example of a thread doomed for locking.""""

This from the one most responsible for dragging it off topic...

Ben is right... everyone in the world calls it Grand Central Station except for a few foamers who know ..or care about the difference!

I was not as accused, the one who started the GCS/GCT debate, just showed a pic of the proper name given to the structure by the company that built and owned it.

Others have tried to compare this to a mis-spelling or mispronounciation, which niether apply here.

I have only reitterated that the PROPER name is GCT, and have acknowledged that many call it by GCS, and that most would understand where they are talking about.

I did NOT advocate having this thread LOCKED, but pointed out, that this thread IS heading down the same path that has resulted in many other threads in the past  being locked.

I am not quite sure how "A Rose by any other Name" is relevant to this discussion, Yes I am from the "Rose City" as Portland, OR is known, and here if it is a Rose, we call it a Rose, if it is NOT a Rose, we don't call it a Rose.

I have repeatedly said call it whatever you like, GCT is the proper name, never said that you could not call GCS.

So Again, call it what you like, this has devolved from a civil discussion, to a Grade Schoolyard argument.
