Just back from my first visit to a model train show in Winston-Salem, NC. My 3 year old grandson had a wonderful time watching the trains run and pushing buttons at all the hands on exhibits. I bought a Lionel O27 Southern Diesel Freight set in almost new condition for $90, not including track and transformer, a Southern RR coffee mug, some Gargraves track pins and 3 track bumpers. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with my grandson.

Hi bill

Was the Piedmont-Triad Modular Railroad operating? Your Grandson sure appears to have seen something he enjoyed.

This Winston Expo has been HO only for at least a quarter century. First time for an O-gauge layout. The Piedmont-Triad guys and gals are fairly new and just getting started with full range scenicking.

Honestly, Dewey, I didn't pay any attention to the names of the train groups because I'm not familiar with any of them. But almost all the displays were O gauge and about half of the booths were selling o gauge stuff.

The fellow I bought from is into G gauge but he had a bunch of consignment Lionel O gauge cars and sets at very reasonable prices.
