I just recived an e mail reminder for this show.  I have not been to it and have only been to a few shows.  One was the big E which was great.   This is for anyone who has been to this show, is this show mainly O gauge or a mixture of gauges.   I have heard the Greenberg shows have now had a lot of "toys" for sale instead of trains, is this true also?

Just attended the Greenburg Monroeville, PA show this past weekend.  There was a nice collection of N, HO,S, O, Standard , and G Scales.  Operating layouts in most gauges were present.  There was tools, scenery materials, some parts...S and O, and a few seminars.  To answer your question...mixed in were Barbies, Helicopters, drones, tin toys, Diecast, artwork, books, repro boxes/parts, old toys, model kits, plastic guns and train sets, road race sets, slot cars, girder n panel sets, cape canaveril set, fort Apache set, t-shirts, etc.

i was a vendor at the Big E....a lot more trains.  In my opinion, there is no comparison when you look at the two....the Big E is a train show!

Greenberg has deteriorated over time.  Lots of toys, a few drone and helicopter vendors.  The aisles are wider because there are fewer vendors.  Good show to visit if you have a shopping list from some of the online vendors.  For the price of admission you can see some of the layouts, shop for some supplies and save on shipping.  Allentown is much larger, only trains with a wider variety of vendors.

Assuming you can clear your schedule on the work-front, there is nothing to debate.  I wouldn't even mention Greenberg in the same sentence as Allentown.  There's THAT much of a difference.

Absolutely, York has no equal.  But for anyone within striking distance of Allentown looking for something to do on Saturday/Sunday, it's a great show.  I've been going regularly since the 1970's... and have never tired of it.  Always something to find.

Haven't been to a Greenberg show since the late 1990's / early 2000's, and I started to see the quality decline then.  Stopped going and have never looked back.

Greenberg Edison is the largest show in NJ. Yes, there are a lot of toy vendors, but you

can do well if you concentrate on the trains. If you haven't been, by all means give it a

shot. The last show here was very busy!People love to thrash this show, but if we did not

have them, there would not much left, only a few overpriced, small shows. So why not?

IMO, Greenberg's NJ and Allentown are the only two shows worth attending in this area. There is more a toy mix at Greenberg but with 500 tables there are enough trains to buy. Never did the count, but I would say that both shows have a similar number of O gauge train tables. Greenberg's Edison may be larger area wise, but both shows are large enough to satisfy even the most profound fanatic.

Greenberg is ok to waste a day on and probably the best if you don't want to leave New Jersey. Like the other guys said though it's not a top show either.

To be honest, wait for the World’s Greatest Hobby tour to stop by Edison the end of March. It only comes to this area like once every 2 or 3 years and it is twice the size of Greenberg and at the same venue.

I don't know what end of Jersey you are on, but I've driven up to Edison from Hammonton (Atlantic County) many times. Yes, there are a lot of toys, but they don't bother me, and there are still plenty of train vendors to keep me busy.

Allentown is bit further away for me, but as mentioned, it is a better show. I'll be heading for Allentown this week, so I'll probably skip Edison this time.

FYI - If you live toward the southern end of Jersey, there is now a Greenberg show in Wilmington, De. as well. I haven't been there yet, but I may try to check it out next month.

The Edison shows are good shows as far as Greenberg Shows go.  There were a few O vendors last time I went.  There is a variety of scales present as well as the toys and other non train related junk.  If you go check out the pickle guy.  He has a large variety of pickles and olives.  The Allentown Show is worth the trip if you can make it.  The WGH on Tour show brings out the manufactures to display their products.  Plenty of free catalogs last time I attended the show in NJ.  I've has some success attending some of the smaller NJ train shows.  Like the Brick and other small shows.  Sometimes you find people thinning out their collections and you may get lucky.  York is OK, but don't call it a show, you'll unleash the flying monkeys.

I've been to the Greenberg show in Wilmington, Delaware twice and I will never return.  Over the years I've been to a lot of Greenberg shows in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and I can truly say the Wilmington show by far was the worst of the lot.  Save your gas and money, it ain't worth the trip.
