This is a wild shot, as the events happened 50-52 years ago, but here goes.
During 1971-1973 on certain dates Reading 2102 pulled excursion trains over the entire C&O Greenbrier subdivision from Ronceverte to Durbin WV. The operation was called the Greenbrier Scenic Railway (totally unrelated to and predating by 25 plus years today's Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railway).
Does anyone know if the tender of 2102 was ever lettered GREENBRIER? I seem to recall a picture lettered that way, but cannot find it and have no idea where it was. I may be imagining things as well. There was at least one baggage car lettered GREENBRIER SCENIC as it still exists at Cass WV in derelict condition.
All the pictures I can find (internet and elsewhere) are from 1971 and are the early runs with the tender lettered READING and a complete matching set of C&O tri color passenger cars (boy is it nice looking).
So did anyone ride these trips, especially the later trips in 1972 and 1973 and remember the tender lettering or even better have a picture?
Thanks
Gray Lackey
