Ground as in ground up, which I believe is also an oxymoron.

I read instructions on making your own ground foam someplace once....
It said to get some of the large sheets of gray foam like that stuff that protects your brass models...cut into pieces about the size of a kitchen sponge...toss into a blender that you do not intend to use for food product....turn on, stand back. Then dye to the color you want.
Ground....like pulverized...not like "soil".

I made 5 pretty large bag fulls of my own homemade ground foam based on an article many years ago in either RMC or MR. I used sponges, the cheaper the better, and RIT dye.
OK but not as fine as commercially available stuff.
