That's what I thought. But it depends on the time of day. Made it to the airport in under an hour after our house hunting trip.
Mine came yesterday as well! Can't wait!

Change of plans guys. By hook or crook I am going to York this October!
won't be able to make it in October, but I'm planning on going with my dad (AKA dennish) next year in April for the first time.
I have no train items that I want to buy, but I'll be attending York anyway.
Just completed the TCA membership renewal and York Dealer Registration. Looking forward to October!
Hope to keep going as long as I am above the ground. This will be York number 75 for me.

That was me in April. Before Ben hit me up at breakfast for 2 of the NJ Hi-Railers run of beer reefers and before Mr Muffin had that PRR Y3 at a price too good to pass up. And I don't even have a layout at the moment!
Hence, in October I really have no train items that I want to buy!

Staying though Saturday this fall!
LOL! Oh yes I get to go to York too.
Ha ha, JDADDY!
I am registered and have a room lined up to make my first trip to York! I too, got my wife's approval! I am looking forward to it.

I am going to try to make it on Friday. We'll see. Turned 60 on 8/21. I'm Teflon and bullet proof. I'll be there for Friday....
Congratulations, Gilly!!! I'm already 60! Why am I still working??
You guys are in for quite an experience! Congrats on your first trips!

I'm jealous it's going to be awhile before I can go again. Have fun everyone.

And Ben didn't hit you up for the second car? I hope you got the first one by now and love it. Following a trend here, the second car is the PIELS BROTHERS CAR (remember Bert and Harry). You can order off our website, www.NJHiRailers.com.

Man, I can't wait. Two days at York, and 2 days away from work!!!

That's a great way to look at it, Jim!
Always looking forward to York - particularly October. Something about the October show I prefer over April. Just seems to be this extra excitement in the air, getting colder, fall colors, etc. Love it!
I'm the champion of the 1 day marathon trip. I live a 2 hour, super easy drive from the Fairgrounds (through the mountains and beautiful small PA towns). I make it through every building, twice, in one LONG Friday.
This year, to quench my desire to drive back on Saturday (but never do), I booked a hotel, will be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday as of now. To help recover, and most importantly, play with what I buy, I also took the following Monday and Tuesday off!
My first Fall and only my 3rd total York experience . SJC I am also looking forward to the cooler fall and colors (hopefully)
It will be a good time . I'm already looking forward to picking up my pre ordered G scale veterans cars.
I'll be hunting the O gauge ones while I'm at York.

Good for you! Finally, someone who is willing to use those hard-earned vacation days for a little personal enjoyment.

Oh, believe me, I've got no problem using them....sometimes I burn through the time faster than I accrue it!
Taking nearly 2 weeks off in June/July to go West to visit Family and Ride the Southern Pacific 4449 for 2 days put a good dent in the time I had!
I took 2 days off for Thursday and Friday. I'll be staying through Saturday this year and am contemplating a Monday vacation day as well.
I have to agree that the fall York is much more exciting to me as it really does start the Holiday Season for me at least in mind.
Well, as a retiree working as a contractor for my old company, I don't get any paid vacation anymore. That's okay, the small pension checks that are deposited in my account the first of every month make up for it. We have a slow period right now before starting the next phase of a multi-year project, so I was cut back to working 3 days a week starting today. I don't even have to tell the manager I won't be in the Thursday and Friday of York Week.
The only thing I look forward to growing up is that pension.
Farmer_Bill posted:The only thing I look forward to growing up is that pension.
Yes!! And I have two that were frozen, one way back in '95. They don't add up to as much as I would have hoped!
Traindiesel posted:david1 posted:Joe Hohmann posted:Traindiesel posted:It's looking like I'm going to miss October's Meet. It will be just a couple weeks after our move, there will be too much to do. Add that I'll go from a 75 minute drive to a five hour plane ride to get to York making it a bit daunting to get there so soon after the move. April will be more likely.
But I never say never!
Where are you moving to?
San Diego, California.

think about joining the san diego 3 railers.
feel free to stop in sometime and talk to any of us we can hook you up.

Marty, I think you really nailed it regarding the holiday season. That's why the Fall is always the better York. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......
Plus you don't smell the fertilizer like you do in the Spring.

Less than 3 weeks to go.
I got my badge in the mail two days ago. I'm officially signed up for my first trip to York!

I hope you can make it in the spring!
I'm finished with PT. Now I'm all set to put some mileage on my new knee walking the halls! I left York early in the spring because of the pain I had before the surgery.
Congratulations Side Rod!! My wife had one done, but needs the other knee done too. PT is the trick! Do what they say to do.
