I was looking at a Hafner/Wyandotte windup train advertisement and noticed that the train set came with an automatic stop/start mechanism. After seeing one of the mechanisms I noticed that the on/off levers on both of my engines also exits out the bottom. So I built my own stop mechanism so that the gondola of the train would stop in front of my Wyandotte Coal(marble) Loader. Here is a video of what I came up with.

That's pretty slick!
Very entertaining, thanks David
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better!
Are you taking it to any shows? Id love to see that portable gem in person.
Now THAT is a Legacy system! lol
That is pretty slick.
Fantastic! That has to be the funnest thing I've seen in a long, long time. I always love seeing your posts.
While I cannot post a video, my Hornby layout has this mechanism built into the locos with a retractable trip lever built into a special section of track...It provides a lot of fun.
Your video is terrific.
that was fun!!
That's a nice addition to the layout, David! I have one of those track sections, but it is poor condition. Good to see your custom version.
That is a neat operation - great stuff! Like Electroliner, I still have my Hornby set with auto-stop. The Hornby stop is on a slide mounted through a pierced rail section.
I like that Wyandotte loader! First time I've seen one.
2158 is a fairly late set in Hafner/Wyandotte history but that is the first time I have seen that feature anywhere. Thanks for sharing. Surprised those marbles aren't 10 feet off one curve. The cd version of "Wyandotte Toys are good and safe" is a great Hafner resource as is the Paul Doyle section of Greenburg's guide to early American toy trains.
