Handheld Remote Intermittent Problem

First, the "(T)" indicated that the remote is tethered to the TIU by connecting a telephone handset cable (thee curly kind) between the bottom of the remote and the TIU's Remote Input port. That's the only way that the "(T)" can appear.

Second, if the transceiver board has become loose in either the TIU, the remote or both, you could experience the behavior that you describe.

Barry - thanks for your reply.  I just found a YouTube video that shows how to disassemble the remote and I will check the transceiver board.  Its interesting that "(TI)" is displayed, albeit briefly, on my remote and it is NOT tethered to the TIU.  Tom

If you want a reason to switch to wi-fi and the retirement of the hand held is possibly the greatest one.

no more engine not on track etc.  I have three TIU so that means three wi-fi.  Once I got it working, simply WOW.

John - I would love to switch to wifi, I really enjoy the latest technologies.  But, I continue to find the handheld unit to be much more reliable.  And, the iPad works a bit better than the iPhone device, but why?  And, by better I mean that often times the iPhone isn't able to find/access an engine ... just experienced this ... very frustrating!  Perhaps I don't have the latest software load, but I updated everything about 6 months ago.   Anyway, the trains are on schedule using the handheld remote.  Tom
