Yeah, I know that Chicago was just last weekend but the Harrisburg All O scale Meet is just over a week away......usually  a lot of kits for structures and gobs of detail parts (lots of 3D printed stuff usually).

I'll have a table overloaded with stuff, kits and built cars, and "stuff".  Stop by and say hi!

Harrisburg... WHERE? Pennsylvania ??

Thanks.

Walter

Duh...yeah.  You could look it up (Google works...).  And I could post a link, but then folks here delete threads.....but it's listed on O Scale Central, in OSR and OST, and on Facebook (for those that venture there...), etc.

Try looking here in the announcements section: https://ogrforum.com/...le-meet-april-1-2023

Good show despite whatever concerns there may have been regarding weather.

Good nearly full table space and good attendance - sales could have been better, but nothing new in that thought.

Best food at a train show!!!! No question about it.  Worth attending to get breakfast and lunch.

My reaction to the show was a little different.

I found it too be a small show with about a 60-40 mix of narrow gauge to standard gauge. There were too many tables with S Scale parts and even a couple of tables of three rail "models?" There were a few tables of buildings and scenery materials.

The two rail table holders that I talked to were all at the Chicago show two weeks ago.

The highlight of the day "for me" was meeting Les Davis and seeing his wonderful 3D Printed figures.

I was at the show, along with several friends. Its a new show , one that is needed and if we support it ,it will grow and be a great 2 rail show.  Not to badly attended for a new show. And there were many good buys there as well. The location is great with plenty of room for more tables. and space for the attendees to spread out.  good clean rest rooms and the food offered was top of the line .  Plenty of parking!

There use to be many local shows here in the north east, one by one the died off.  For I'm sure many different reasons . The Strasburg show 3 times a year is great. A chance to see old friends and buy that thing you've been looking for forever. We need to keep supporting it so it will thrive and continue to be run.

The Chicago show seems to be one of the best shows going anywhere in the country.  And that is great, but many of us can't get to it for reasons of our own, age ,cost, time, work, family obligations whatever. We need the local shows,  not only for the good deals that that often offer, but also for the knowledge and the friendships they help to create.

Now it Rich Yoder and the folks running this meet can get together and work out the show dates so they are spread out a bit. Both of these shows will thrive and we all get the benefit of what they have to offer.

Remember  we need to support the shows and the dealers who attend them, for all our own benefit. Good luck to both folks running these show ,meets.

A little perk for vendors is that there was a crew on site to unload your stuff and deliver it in to your table(s).  Carts available then when you were packing out, too.

Young show that is clearly growing over it's prior dates. It's a different mix than other shows -- that's actually to it's advantage - if it were the same as others. The S scale stuff is generally there for the On30 crowd that finds it good raw materials.  That smattering of 3 rail was odd.

Indeed and well stated.

There's no good endpoint associated with running down the shows and meets that we do have as that only leads to our not having any at all.

Strasburg in 2 weeks!

I really wanted to go to this show, but couldn't make it this year.  So hopefully I will be able to next year.

Although I went to Chicago this year for the first time.  I won't be able to go there every year because of cost, time off, etc.  So I don't think it is a detriment that some of the same vendors that were in Chicago were here, I find that to be a positive since I can see some of Chicago at smaller meets.  So these smaller shows are integral to the hobby thriving.

I will be going to Strasburg in 2 weeks, so I hope to see some of the vendors that were in Chicago and in Harrisburg there.

Andy,

On the 2 rail side you will see the same vendors at Strasburg in two weeks. Plus a lot more vendors. Not so much for the narrow gauge side.

So would this just be O scale 2 rail and S scale or would there be anything for a three railer?  I see some figures and mention of some structures for sale?  I may try to attend next year.

95+% O scale - structures and scenery stuff , and details were abundant.  Rare that you see scenery stuff at Strasburg for some reason - different vibe there.

There are a lot of vendors and sellers (btw, there is a difference between the 2) at both of these shows that do not go to Chicago. As Frank noted earlier, there are a lot of variables in play that preclude many from doing Chicago so these smaller regional shows.

For you 3 railers;  Both of these shows have much to offer you folks. Maybe not so much in locomotive power. But most all of the 2 rail cars are pretty easy to convert to 3 rail. Along with scenery supplies, books , hardware, tools and Yes some 2 railers selling some 3 rail equipment they may have acquired along the way. Besides maybe making a new friend or two is also nice.

Its all model railroading and most 2 railers welcome 3 railers its suppose to be fun and you never know what a good deal you may have missed if you don't attend the shows.

Also some of the dealers selling at these shows also do 3 rail shows because its just makes good sense for their business.

SO-- you  3 railers give these shows a shot you just might find that good deal you were after !

Franky-Ogee

And that is why, instead of giving them the pitch to buy stuff, say: Maybe you might want to try 2 rail!

We could always use MORE 2 railers!

ECI

We most certainly can use more 2 railers, and York is a great place for 3 railers to find things their after. No doubt about it !

But I still feel welcoming 3 railers to our 2 rail meets is a good thing.  Not necessarily a pitch to buy something, although there are things they can use . But a way to bolster our meets and perhaps welcome a new 2 railer down the road. Or at the very least make a new friend.

Its all Model Railroading no matter what the scale or how many rails your trains run on !

SO 3 railers come-on and join us at the next 2 rail meet in Strasburg in 2 weeks
