Came upon a couple of these scenery add-ons. I took a few guesses and searched the Internet for images with no success. Can anyone identify what these structures are or what they are used for? (In O scale terms, I would guess these are about 10-12 feet high.) Thanks.

Line side phone booth?
Plus size Iron Maiden? Economy class TARDIS?
Someone on the forum was selling scale model of a building like this for support of restoration of the original small switch house.

The hinges/lock on the structures in question look like a bit overkill for a phone booth.
Search on the forum "CNJ Concrete Switching Shanty-New from River Leaf models" it is larger in width but looks similar.

I agree. Too many hinges, and heavy-duty looking ones to boot. Plus all the rivets. I'll take a look at your search suggestion, thanks.
Nah, I looked. That doesn't seem to be it. The fact that this has no windows whatsoever leads me to think this is not something that the general public would use, e.g. phone booth etc. Even if it were a switching shanty wouldn't it have to have at least one window??
Railroad telephone booth and later used as control equipment locker.
No window for security reasons, keep metal thieves out.
Round ones are more common.
Battery or relay vault for signals. Could have also had a call box inside.

Makes sense with the hinges/locks.
Googled railroad phone booth and a buch of pictures come up.
Question: Just wondering where would these be place on the line, from some of the pictures looks like they were near switches?
It involves staying seated during the entire performance and not leaving until the paperwork is done! SORRY! Just a joke but it would make a real nice single hole-er.
Thanks everyone. Railroad phone booth search turned up a photo pretty much identical to this piece. Appreciate the help.
The hinges and rivets on the model are way out of scale.
We have a building like that at our historic Boothe park where our train group is located.
The Boothe brothers had it to wait for the trolley which ran across the road from their property. The inside is dark velour, appears from the Victorian era.
