I've purchased a Lionel Christmas Jet Snow Blower and am disappointed at it's smoke output. An after the purchase Google search led me to youtube videos where a poster said this car works best with Legacy and TMCC locomotives running at high speed and 18 volts but unfortunately I haven't yet invested in TMCC and Legacy.

I bought this for my nephew to run at moderate speed with a conventional Polar Express steam whistle effect engine pulling all of Lionel's available lighted passenger coaches.

Specs at Lionel's parts list it as having the following components:

  • AC Regulator (S03 code)
  • PCB / Fan driven smoke / DSL / Square / 8 ohm
  • Smoke resistor / 6 ohm 5% 2 watt
  • Trainsounds / Jet Snowblower
  • Smoke unit case only jet snowblower
  • Air intake / fluid fill / jetsnowblower

Can anything be done to increase this jet snow blower's smoke output? Would replacing Lionel's smoke unit with an MTH fan driven smoke unit be a viable option? Any suggestions on how that would be done? Is there anyone or any company who'd do such a conversion?

I truly don't want to see the look of disappointment on a 3-1/2 year olds face this Christmas so any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help
