help needed with AIU/TIU switches

I am setting up my system and getting to know how it all works going through the manual and other videos. The problem that has stopped me is with switches with the AIU. At first all (7) gargraves switches worked fine they would work with "all" or by them self. I did some recording and playback and other things. Now they only work by them self will not work with "ALL" only the hand held unit shows that they were switched but nothing comes out of the AIU .The TIU is power by z500, track is powered by Lionel brick 180w.
