I purchased a Williams log dump car, a coal dump car and the remote control to operate these cars at York in the Orange hall. To my dismay the coal dump car does not work. I will contact Williams this week, but I am sure they are going to want to know who I purchased the car from.

If I recall, this dealer was located on the right side of the Orange hall. I think Williams was the only product he was selling. He sure had lots of Williams products.

Thanks for your help.

Joe is the owner of J&R Trains.  He is reputable beyond reproach, so I am sure he will help you.  Frankly. he'll be disgusted the thing did not work.  Just to make sure you bought from J&R, he only sells NEW Williams.

Here is his web site for his contact info.   http://jrtrains.enstore.com/browse/1

I always visit Joe - he probably knows more about Williams than Bachman does!

John,

Thanks, that must be him. All he had was new Williams. The Williams operating dump car and log car along with the remote controller were on my " York List. " I remember walking into his booth and thinking that if he did not have the two cars, then no one at York would have them. The Price was right too!

My layout has all Ross switches and as a result my post war operating cars get to sit on a siding and do their thing. The Williams opeerating cars will now allow me to have operating cars in my trains, and the remote control adds a whole new aspect to the layout that will be enjoyed by thevisitors.

Thanks agian for providing me with the information.

Richard:

Sounds like a good set up for the layout.  I am not sure if you'll need to go through Bachmann's customer service (which, in my expereince, is good).  Regardless, I am sure it will be made right.

Keep an eye on J&R's web site.  He does have good prices.  Joe (and his wife, I think Rita, thus the "R" in "J&R Trains) does other shows in the northeast, so expect to run into him again if you go to another show.

And seriously, Joe is the WBB encyclopedia.  I really think the Bachmann folks rely on him for some historical perspectives!

John,

I left a message with Joe Monday morning and he called me back that afternoon. He told me to just send him the bad one and he would send a new one. He would deal with Williams.

Now you can't beat that kind of service! I will have to give those Williams RS 3's another look!

And again, thanks to all of you on the OGR forum for helping me out. I am always amazed by the wealth of knowledge and willingness to help that one can find on this forum.
