Greetings Everyone.

I could use a little help with this one.  I purchased a K-line Pennsylvania Railroad Trainmaster #8701 (Item Number K2480-8701CC).  It is as close to new as it gets.  Looks like it has never been on the track.  It is TMCC with Rail Sounds.  Everything functions as it should.  Here’s the catch.  I entered the specifics of this locomotive into my CAB-2 remote manually.  It is entered as “Diesel”, “TMCC” with “Rail Sounds”.  It starts up and idles waiting for a command from the remote as it should.  However, it will not move until it gets to the number 12 (with regard to speed) on the remote display.  It revs-up, but it will not move.  Once it hits 12 or 13 it takes off almost like a delayed reaction momentum and runs pretty fast.  I have preformed a reset and then re-entered the engine into the CAB-2 but it acts the same as it did before the reset.  Here’s the $64,000.00 question.  What am I doing wrong?  Also, once the engine takes off and I decrease the throttle, it sometimes slows down on curves (60” Radius).  I hope I have provided an adequate amount of information to correct this issue.  BTW, it’s a very nice engine and has a great horn.

I read the first post again, and I'm going to revise my answer.  If the cruise is turned off, that's normal operation for many non-cruise locomotives.  If it does have cruise enabled, see my first post.

FWIW, I have that exact K-Line Trainmaster, and mine certainly doesn't act like you describe!  Mine starts moving at the first speed step.

As a test, when it's moving, lightly hold it back, if it has cruise enabled, it will fight a lot harder to maintain speed than if the cruise isn't enabled.  BWIW, mine does have functional cruise, though that's a frequent failure item on the K-Line stuff.

If it runs normally in conventional mode that might rule out the binding issue. If you have the same problem in conventional (must add lots of throttle to get it going), then I'd agree with John that binding would be the first thing to check.

It actually runs pretty slow in conventional mode when tested on a test track.

Apparently mine doesn't have cruise control even though the manual states that it does.  Thanks John!
