Thanks for the article on the Hershey's silos. I grew up there, visit my dad often, and see the building every time. Great job matching the look and especially the color. It is very prominent in town.
The circus trains used to unload / load the animals at that siding as Zoo America is adjacent and connects to Hershey Park and the old Arena.
The old factory building had a lot of hazardous materials like asbestos and lead, and has since been downsized and converted to corporate offices. The power plant stacks are still there.
A new Hershey factory was just completed to the West (RIP Friendly's) near the Reese's plant on Chocolate Avenue.
There is still a small rail yard across from Derry Presbyterian that serves these plants. Typically you find a GP38-2 and a blue Conrail caboose. Lots of covered hoppers and a few tanker cars in the yard.
These photos were mostly taken back in 2014-2016 when the old factory siding was removed (was connected to the girder bridge in the photo).
It's now an NS line, and sees a lot of intermodal traffic to Rutherford Terminal.
