I have voltage readings on two PS 3 engines exceeding 23v on my remote. My Z4 shows 17v, and all of my other engines read about the same as shown on the Z4. Should I be concerned about the abnormal readings shown by these two engines?

Do you have a voltmeter? If so, what does it read on the track?
What voltage do the locos give?
Are you speaking of the voltage readout when the TRK button is pressed, or the voltage that the loco says it sees when you press the softkey?
It's the loco track voltage reading shown on the remote screen when the soft key button is depressed for those two engines. All of my other engine track voltage readings are close to that shown on the z4000. Thanks for your reply.

I don't have the vaguest idea of the cause.
I think there is a bug or something in the PS3 engines that gives a falsely high reading. I think Barry has explained this somewhere before. Maybe he will be along shortly with more information.
It's a PS/3 bug, I see the same thing, and it's been discussed here before.
Thanks for your responses. Apparently it is as I had hoped, an insignificant anomaly that may be ignored.

You can be 100% certain that your locomotives are not boosting the track voltage from the transformers.
gunrunnerjohn,
Having no P3 engines yet, is this false reading a flaw in the P3 engines or the latest TIU/hand held remote?

Dave,
The problem is in the PS3 engines, not in DCS.
Barry,
I have been staying away from the P3 engines, and I wanted to know exactly what you just told me, do you have any idea what is causing this problem? Is it just a false reading or could there be a bigger problem.
PCRR/Dave
I'm 99.9% sure this is just a glitch in the software or hardware that ends up displaying the voltage incorrectly.
Dave,
As John says, it's just an error in the engine firmware and is not, AFAIK, it's not indicative of any other issue.
At present, I own 7 PS3 engines (2 diesels, 2 electrics and 3 steamers). All have been running just fine.
The good news is that it's potentially user-correctable if and when MTH were to issue a corrected chain file for those engines that are affected. However, due to the fact that possibly every PS3 engine produced to date has the problem, as well as that the the problem is, at most, a minor nuisance, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a corrected file.
I appreciate all of your replies. One further note. I have 5 PS3 diesels, and one displays a correct reading of TV, while 4 of them overstate it. Otherwise all of them function flawlessly in every other respect. At RJR's suggestion I tested the track with a voltmeter, and it tested close to that registered on the Z4000. In my view DCS and PS3 are great systems, that one should feel safe in owning, and operating.

one displays a correct reading of TV,
Which engine displays the correct voltage?
I'm also curious as to which engine displays the correct voltage, I haven't seen one yet.
The engine that displays the correct voltage reading is the premier Wabash heritage unit. This was a suprise to me as the newer S&A heritage unit I have posted inflated readings like all of my other PS3s. The important thing otherwise they all run great.
