I opted for the MTH GP40s coming out this year. They're supposed to arrive mid summer, but we all know how that goes so at least they may arrive this year.
I know what you're saying. O scale is fantastic but there's a LOT missing in freight, passenger & loco's. Another thing that's not at all right is the absence of modern safety shelf couplers on modern freight cars & there's no way to say that it's ok. It's like putting Link & Pin couplers on modern freight.
Fully operating ground throws as well as derailers should be available in O Scale due to the increased size. But are they available-no. These 2 items span many generations of railroads,so I have to conclude that modelers in O scale are satisfied not having them,as Kadee has expressed to me. They're aware O scale needs safety shelf couplers, but the demand's too small to tool for them. Who's fault is this-ours. Many modelers in O scale HAVE voiced their opinions like myself,&I say congratulations & thank you.
Now. The incentive for choosing to move to O scale from another scale or for the 1st time with these lacks of products for the "modern era" modelers takes a serious setback. My finances I've posted many times here, determines whether I can move to O scale. Sales are going very well, but as much as I want to stay here,I have to ask myself if I'll be happy.
How about us modern era modelers form a splinter group so we won't agitate other O scalers & push for these new products? Does anyone agree? I'm talking say from 1975 to today? I don't know exactly how this is done & maybe this era of modelers is too small to make it worth it. I don't know, you modelers tell me if interested & thank you.
These are just my opinions.
Thank you,
Al Hummel
