Just received my Lionel Bluetooth Radio Station.  Found it to be easily hooked up....and it connected immediately to my IPhone.  I temporarily found a place for it on my layout and tried to stream some music.

The only issue I found was that the sound from the radio was drowned out a bit by other accessories on my layout.  I found a few special effects such as conductor announcements and station announcements on the internet and played them.  Sound quality is good.  I also downloaded a voice recorder on my iphone so I could customize my own announcements for visitors prior to turning on the layout.

So my question to the forum members who have received their stations is how do you plan to use and incorporate your station on your layout.

I am surprised you didn't get any responses.   It's a good question. I got mine this week but haven't had a chance to unbox it yet.  I am curious too to hear how people will use it.  It's not very different from just hiding a speaker somewhere on the layout, but it seems better being able to have the speaker exposed for what I am hoping is clearer sound quality.

I too was suprised by the lack of responses to my question.  I really feel this is an excellent accessory to customize a layout with special announcements especially on those occassions when guests come over to view your layout.  Hoping to get some more ideas as to how to best use this accessory or suggestions where to find some unique sound files.

I was thinking about adding to my Christmas layout.  Many Lemax buildings have a "soundtrack" of background noise that matches the building and/or music, but it's very short, muffled, and the looping drives you insane.  So this would be a nice alternative.  I think I'd broadcast something subtle such as classical versions of songs without words.  Just something in the background since I want the focus to be on the visual aspects of the layout.

I've also thought about just having a nature soundtrack.  If your layout is winter, maybe a cold winter wind, a wolf howling every once in a while.  Or for summer layouts, birds chirping.  City layouts could have city noises.

Regardless, I think the sound only makes sense when the trains are idle.  Otherwise, I think it would just be too hard to hear and make out what you are supposed to be listening to.

This reminds me of Shell fuel storage tanks with a speaker inside of them that I've seen for N-gauge layouts.  I believe they come with horn button and are intended to be used to provide train sounds to trains that do not have sound.  I always liked how you could put one of those on your layout and completely hide a speaker.
