I had a Lionel CW80 that stopped working. Just bought a new z1000 and need to connect it to the TIU. There are only two jacks on the Z1000 where the old Lionel had 4 which were clearly labeled track and aux. That's not the case with the Z1000. I'm intimidated by it. I'm not an electrical engineer and don't want to fry anything. I have the plug in jack for the power but, I also have two other wires from the boosters on the the opposite side of the layout.

I am also a new Z1000 owner . I noticed on the power brick it looks like there are accessory power terminals there (14V I think).
Just out of curiosity, are you saying on the old CW80 you had the two track output jacks going to the TIU and the two aux jacks going to a booster feed directly to the track on the opposite side of the layout ?
Purchase the MTH 50-1017 TIU/BARREL JACK ADAPTER CABLE. It is about $15 and available from many OGR-listed train stores. It will allow you to plug the Z1000 directly into the fixed input on the TIU. (It is the 18 VAC barrel output of the Z1000 that you want to attach to the TIU.)
Thank you Bruce,. I'm not an engineer. So, any help I can get I appreciate. I'll purchase the MTH 50-1017 TIU/BARREL JACK ADAPTER CABLE from a OGR listed store. We built the layout 15 years ago for my son. I've been using our club layout and recently began using our home layout again in the garage since son is now off to college.
If your Z1000 included the Z-controller (device with the variable voltage control), you simply run one wire from the Z-controller black terminal to the fixed input black terminal on the TIU; likewise, a wire from red terminal on the Z-Controller to the red terminal on the TIU fixed input. Without the Z-controller, the adapter I mentioned above is correct.
