This set is from 1965, was my Dad's. Made the figure 8 but can't figure out how the other pieces fit in. This is the track that came with the original set and none our missing as far as I know. There are no turnouts either.

How about one straight before the turns, one on each leg of the x, the one each on end of the half circle.
That will use 6 of the 10 straight tracks you have.

In its new home I was able to add 4 straits on one circle and 2 on the other.
