Only telltale is overheating. Does not void warranty.

The locktite will soften to a stiff goo and be removable.I like the wave washer idea, but I have to take exception to this suggestion. It's overkill for the TIU posts, which is what we're talking about. I use Loctite Blue Threadlocker, more than sufficient IMO. With all that plastic around, I'm not a big fan of needing heat to take it apart.
*I should have also stated "sparingly" as in a tiny drop after assembly, or just 2-3 threads worth usually applied with my pocket knife.*
Good point, I understand. I've not worked directly with a tui. And for years I always began with blue. If that tended to fail, went to red. But I haven't bought blue since the 90s.
I had the similar fear of the red but found with just a LITTLE heat I could use it on #4-6 fine thread and get them off. Occasionally wiping threads on those tiny buggers, but off and leaving the microswitches perfectly intact.
More heat won't make it thinner. My assistant used to use his bic lighter for 5-10 seconds tops. It really doesnt take much heat to go from crystalline to a stiff goo. The stiffness is substanstial enough to still work inside a hot vehicle engine on up to ½", but used lightly, even on small hardware, it can be removed with light heat, regular needlenose and some care.
Maybe I just got too used to doing it and I am taking ease for granted today? Not to toot my own horn, but mechanical comes very easy to me, I am often guilty of expecting too much of others in that respect. But with loose being an obvious heat concern, and not something I'd want to keep a close eye on, I would go with overkill and worry about removal later, if ever needed.
Try looking for the min.temp to melt it on some extra harware with an old crappy iron in your spare time. I know I was suprised with the result.
Opening it doesn't void the warranty, if you blow a fuse you have to open it to change it. I opened all of mine and tightened the nuts, and all of them had at least one or two that were pretty loose.
I've been reluctant to do these various improvements due to most attempts end up worse than if I'd have just left it alone.
Does this issue affect both the "in" and "out" sides of the TIU?
Anyone have a picture of the inside?
Thanks
Both sides. All terminals
