I am modifying my current track paths, and in one place I have a tight squeeze between the existing motor housing of a right hand Lionel 022 turn out, and the straight section of a new turnout that I have to lay along side of it.   The motor housing of the Lionel turnout juts out pretty darned far from the outside rail tie of the single section entrance of the existing turnout.    I can't just switch the motor to the other side of of the turnout, because it would be hanging completely off the side of my table.

I was wondering if anybody has a right hand Rossi 031 radius automatic turnout,  and if so, you could please measure for me how far out from the  right side of the outside entrance tie the switch motor housing juts out?   (See picture.)   Hopefully about an inch or so less than the Lionel 022 turnout motor housing?

If it’s somewhere you can reach, the mechanism for the manual version of the O22…the O42…is significantly smaller.

Also if you can stand looking at it, the O22 switch motor doesn’t need to be supported…especially if you screw down the switch to your layout.   I ended up making an outcropping for an O22 that was going to overhang a gorge I’m adding.

Mannyrock, You may have received more timely and informative responses to your question if you had referred to Ross switches by their correct name (Ross) instead of  Rossie or Rossi. Their name, Ross Custom Switches, is on the top of the banner on this page if your having trouble finding it. But FYI a RossPlate switch with a DZ100 motor will extend out from the side of the switch less than the motor/cover extends out on a Lionel 022 switch.
