Wouldn't an Aux water tender be somewhat anachronistic to use with the Big Boys?

Granted #4014 would more than likely be pulling the one that the Challenger used behind her once she's finally able to do excursions, but even then, 4014 is going to be "modernized" to the point where even the Lionel model would be anachronistic (oil instead of coal being the biggest one) to the tender anyway, wouldn't it?

Any word on the shipping dates for these yet?

MTH was suppose to ship in NOV.  Then DEC.  The shipping schedule is still showing DEC. I checked again this morning and no dealer has them yet, at least to my knowledge.

Lionel is suppose to be APR 15.

I have the 2010 version of the black Legacy UP Auxiliary Tender I picked up at York last Spring.  Two things I noticed about it. It really doesn't do much and the lettering is noticeably darker than the lettering on the Big Boy tender. But it does add even more mass to the engine and looks cool, so buy it for looks and not features

Kind of wish it was yellow though

I appreciate the info!

Fair enough, never suggested not getting one wasn't.  Just pointing out that an auxiliary tender behind a Big Boy isn't prototypical for the reasons stated.  It's just information, whatever one wants to do with said information is up to them, and as an aside, running them prototypically (sans aux. tender) can be just as fun too.
