My layout is too small for long consists but I have double headed two NYC RS3s. Since they are Lionchief with the same frequency it only takes one remote. Fun stuff.
When the Atlas O F7 engines arrived, I ran a ABBBA consist of Amtrak. Both A units and two B units had power. There was one non-powered B unit in the middle.
When running the Rio Grande ABBA all powered units with ten California Zephyr cars, and the four powered Amtrak with dummy B, I popped the breaker on my ZW-L as soon as I turned on the smoke.
I put the non-powered Rio Grande A unit shell on a powered chassis for the four powered consist. There was a lot of rumbling going on as the diesels passed.
Sincerely, John Rowlen

Nobody does it better than Tommy Z.
Not technically a "lashup", but I did run a consist 5 powered 3rd Rail diesels pulling my "Southwest Limited" with about 15 21" aluminum cars as I recall. I ran this in conventional so I don't know if that counts! It only drew about 6 amps off the transformer.

Yeap!
Well when I had my old HO layout that was an 11x11, I ran all of my diesels in one NCE powercab lashup. At the time I had 8ish diesels (5 sound, 3 plain DCC) Second loop had 4 electrics on it. Also had 2 steamers idling in the yard. Was able to run both trains at no more than speed step 5 without the system tripping.
10 Legacy diesels, four 89' Autoracks that carried birthday greetings signs for one of my train loving grandsons, and a Trackmobile ending the consist. Attached the video to Facebook to wish him a happy 4th birthday.
Correction....8 powered, 2 dummy, 4 Autoracks, and a Trackmobile. Ran them really slow
I must be doing something wrong...I struggle with 2 engines...of the same make????
SIX!!!!!! I have a Williams set of F3s Texas Chief Yellow War Bonnets with a dummy B unit. I robbed a motor out of the powered unit and installed it in the
dummy unit so I have two powered units. I also purchased 3 more dummy B units and lash everything together. The original powered unit runs backwards because it still has the reverse unit in it. the new powered unit(former dummy unit) runs at the head end as it only runs forward. It pulls a consist of 9 Santa Fe passenger cars.
I have lashed up 14 legacy diesels on one track. The issue is power surge when the transformer is turned on.
Talking to Dr ZW years ago, he did something to ramp this surge slower in legacy so i could start up 14 in legacy, and i think it was like 8 in tmcc or something like that before it tripped breaker on a 180w brick.
I have the day off, maybe i will try this again and post the lashup!
I did a complete loop once with three powered locomotives. was at a train show in Syracuse NY and made a train where the caboose rear coupler connected with the front coupler of the lead locomotive and I had two additional locomotives staged strategically within the train. one lady stood there for a min watching, she finally said
"there is no end to this train!!!
Well, I can't compete with you mega-MU aficionados but I have lashed up four Legacy locos to power my "SP Daylight Fantasy Excursion Train." Only three of the engines are powered but all four have SMOKE:
This combination pulls Lionel's excellent 18" aluminum Shasta Daylight set plus some K-Line/MTH SP cars thrown in for good measure. Er, I mean for more realism.

Here is a video of 4 powered MTH AC4400s doing a long coal drag of UP 4 bay hoppers on th FMRC modular layout. 6 powered MTH engines is my record... so far. I often double head steam engines as well.

Thanks Clem! I do a lot of long coal trains with excessive motive power! 👍🏻
