Not until 2073.
The person who bought me my first train is 88.
Does that count ?
I don't qualify, but just wanted to say that the background in your post makes interesting reading.
Not yet, but I am old enough to remember the TV show "Life Begins at 80"!
Bill
WOW!, I just want to thank you for your stories. I might add I hope to be so blessed to make 80. I know I will still be fooling with trains if I do.
Larry
I'm too old to have responded on the under 40 thread, and too young for this one. But, I guess I'm a lot closer to 80 than 40!
Jim
I'm gonna give up toy trains when I turn 80 so I can concentrate on women.
82. I may be the oldest one on here. See you all at Fridays sometime between 7-8pm

Do they have a senior menu?

Were you aboard when she swamped Santa Catalina Island?
I'm only 52 so I still have a ways to go but I wonder just what is the demographics of this forum? Might be interesting to see the age spread and where it is concentrated.
Jerry
I have a train that is over 80. I have a grandpa (that buys me trains) that is 80. I have three antique phonographs that are over 80. Me on the other hand, I am just about 1/4 of the way to 80.
In all seriousness though, I would not think there are many 80+ people here, not because of the lack of them in the hobby, but the lack of them on the computer. It's sorta like the younger than 40 thread. Those numbers would be kinda high for the hobby, since my generation is very active in computers.
Yep, I'm there already,8.
No I dont remember anything to do with Santa Catalina Island.I was a plank owner when she was commisoned at Brookly Navy Yard in Nov. 1944 and was released from active duty in June 1946.We did break loose in a typhoon in Apra Harbor in Guam.
We did have 2 guys who became comedians later although Winters was a little wacky even then when he ran the Christmas party in the Philpines in 1945. The other was Shecky Green.

I'm 59 and received my first set a Lionel 520 at age 4 in 1957 (still have it) and graduated to HO at age 6 and back to O and seriously collecting in the early 70's. My only time inactive was my teen years when a female became more attractive than a EMD F-7.

Most seniors like "all you can eat" buffets...the less expensive, the better.
I have to wait 9 1/2 years to hit 80.
In three more years come January. My goal is to be shot by a jealous husband at 105.
