I have a train that is over 80. I have a grandpa (that buys me trains) that is 80. I have three antique phonographs that are over 80. Me on the other hand, I am just about 1/4 of the way to 80.

In all seriousness though, I would not think there are many 80+ people here, not because of the lack of them in the hobby, but the lack of them on the computer. It's sorta like the younger than 40 thread. Those numbers would be kinda high for the hobby, since my generation is very active in computers.

No I dont remember anything to do with Santa Catalina Island.I was a plank owner when she was commisoned at Brookly Navy Yard in Nov. 1944 and was released from active duty in June 1946.We did break loose in a typhoon in Apra Harbor in Guam.

We did have 2 guys who became comedians later although Winters was a little wacky even then when he ran the  Christmas party in the Philpines in 1945. The other was Shecky Green.

Fourteen years to go until I join Farmer Bill on the glorious and worthwhile quest

And when I turn 80, you are all welcome to concentrate on me!

Hi Bill

Do you recall a sub tender ship named Apollo ?

My dad was there in Guam the same time you were...
