That ad posted by Rusty seems to have a misprint as it mentions “O54” track so from another ad on Menard’s web site:  Click here: O-36 Curve O Gauge Tubular Track at Menards®

Interesting that they require only 8 sections not 12 like FasTrack O36 or Super O so they are longer and note the 4 ties per section.

Thanks for the link, Bill.  The last time I looked on Menard's there was no such information and then the picture Rusty posted said a 54" diameter circle which really threw me for a loop.  Heh.

Fastrack O-36 also is 8 sections per circle.

Thanks again.

Pete:

You are welcome and thanks for catching my mistake.  I was thinking of O48 of which I recently sold a complete circle.

But the next question for layout planners is how is Menard’s O36 curved track measured?

Is it measured:

  1. center rail to center rail like O36 FasTrack, or
  2. outside edge of tie to outside edge of tie like Lionel’s O31 is measured, or
  3. something different?

The same question would apply to all of their different curved track sizes and the answer would be especially important to users of Lionel O31 who need to replace some of their old track sections in an existing layout.

They should identify that in their ad.

The good news is that if their O36 is measured center rail to center rail then you could nest a circle of Lionel O31 inside of it and have over 3½” spacing between corresponding rails which should be adequate for traditional O or O27-sized equipment.
