Here is my latest project. Converting a 1000.00 dollar model
in to one of a kind. Missouri Pacific StLBM RPO #816
yep I cut a huge 2x31/2 hole in the side.
I work in brass and have real balls to do this to a
1000.00 dollar model.

I like it. Don't know if I would have the "brass" to do that, but I like it.
Just curious,
Why is a brass baggage car $1000.00??
Buzz
Buzz,
Because it is a Wasatch Model, with all the required pibing and conduits
Chip,
O.K. now I understand, as their trucks are about $250.
Thanks.

For clarification. the Wasatch car was the closest I could get to an ACF RPO.
These were the Last RPO the UP ordered and I think it was 1958. Then the mail contracts went south.
Essentially I am back dating it to 1948 time frame.
Again I have balls to do this, I had to pay 1000.00 to get the car.

Anybody can make a hole in a $1000 car,
But few can put the right stuff back into the hole and make it look good!
Nicely done!
Looking forward to seeig the finished painted model.
mwb thanks for your comments. I waiting on some brass to add the skrits.
I intend to post pictures as I go along.

Looking real good.
A lot braver than I am with a $1000 model.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. We'll look forward to your future progress.
Just curious about the attraction to brass in general.
Is it the level of prototypical detail? Are these for display only or do you run them? I seem to recall finding a website in England where some guy was building a brass steamer from scratch using some plans he had. Heavy stuff. And nice work BTW.
Uh huh, working on personal stuff again I see .
And destroying a perfectly good Wasatch car in the process. The lengths some people will go to get what they want; tsk, tsk, who would do such a thing. Next thing you know you'll be tearing up Smithsonian sleepers.
Nice work Bill! Glad to see someone modeling the MoPac.
Please post the car when it's finished.
