UPDATE - I realized that I could now add the switches and accessories (power to dead tracks) as if they are new and they would become active.  A pain to re-enter given with relatively large number.  However, it just seems strange that they are recognized (greyed out) but not active unless added back as new.  I wonder if this is one of the bugs in the ‘updated’ app?   It doesn’t make sense that all of the engines and info remained active but none of the switches and accessories.  I also wonder if I could get them active if I did an export/import - which of course does not presently work until they fix the app?

ORIGINAL Note - I’d been having trouble with my present MTH WIU and so I secured a new one and replaced it, or at least attempted to do so tonight.  I swapped out the old WIU for the new one.  I got everything hooked up and restarted everything including doing an app restore to make sure I was in line with the latest Apple upgrade to my ipad.  So far, so good.  I powered up everything and began to run my connected engines without any concern.  However, when I wanted to do a switching move and also access an unpowered track via the accessories function, both were grayed out and thus not recognized.

I suspect that there is a process for replacing the WIU as I now realize that the TIU as named in the app matches the SSID on the old WIU unit and the new unit has a different SSID.  I checked Barry’s DCS WI-FI companion book and noted that there is a process for replacing the TIU but I didn’t find anything for replacing the WIU.  There is a process for adding a WIU but that is in conjunction with also adding another TIU, which I am not doing.

Some other information - I use the MTH network and not the home WI-FI.  I believe the restored app is working as I can get the variable whistle and whistle smoke to work which I believe is only available with the upgraded app.  I hooked up the old WI-FI unit and the switches and accessories did work again - a quick laugh for some of us who watched TV before cable/internet.  I could get my old unit to work only if I hung it upside down and supported it at a specific angle kinda like we did with the old rabbit ear antenna!  Must be something loose, but it went wacky just before the holidays and I didn’t want to open it up then and risk making things worse, especially with the grandkids wanting to enjoy the trains.  Back to the subject at hand.  Am I supposed to go through some process to formally replace the WIU or do some renaming?  Any other thoughts?

Thanks for any help - Bob
