That hump yard has some sort of retarder to slow the cars.  This is really needed to slow O gauge cars to keep them from derailing when they hit the cars already in the yard.

Ron, the retarder system is fairly complex on that one. It uses a series of air jets to slow the cars. They are so powerful, they can blow a car back up the hill.
