From looking on MTH's website this morning and looking up 20-20635-1, which is the unit I do want to get. I also saw this unit in real life to as in the video below which is my video, but it looks like these units are coming out before Christmas. But I know MTH puts AC4400CW in the catalog. But these units by NS are actually AC44C6M. The reason NS painted these 2 units and there's actually 5 now. Instead of blue the other 3 have a black cab and nose, but the reason there painted this way is because, these are the first units to be converted from DC to AC power. The only thing I'm still trying learn and haven't found out yet what it means is the 6M in AC44C6M. I'm assuming 6 means all 6 axles counting both trucks together are powered. The M though, I'm still trying to figure out. Does the M mean Medium Cab? But anyway, I see on MTH's website looking at 20-20635-1, that the unit is in stock at MTH. I'm assuming there shipping this week before Christmas. HMM - maybe a Christmas Present for me??

I am betting the "C" designates the 6 axles, the "6" for the six modifications made to the unit, and the "M" seems to almost always stand for "Modified."

SD60M, I knew C stood for 6 axles. But thanks in regards to the 6 & M.

Seems you are closer to correct than me...from a guy who would know...

apparently there are some AC44C4M being produced from Dash 9s...and they have only 4 powered axles...so, a necessity to differentiate between a "C6" with six axles and six powered" versus a "C4" with six axles and only 4 powered.  I am pretty sure the "M" means the locomotive has been modified.

Kind of figured the 6 means 6 powered trucks. Just didn't know if the M stood for Medium CAb or like you said, modified. Anyway, thanks for the info.

As to what M.J. Breen said, yes your correct to that. I've heard railfans call them the Blue Brothers also. Also Sonic Bonnet, which I don't care for. Curious to know the horn in the MTH 4000 as the real 4000 has a Nathan 5 Chime P5.

Yes, the "6" in "C6M" indicates six powered axles.  BNSF is also having some Dash 9's turned into AC's, and at least some are the "C4M" version with A1A trucks like the ES/ET44C4.

Yes, or even ES44C4, when they first came out, some of the people I knew did not know what C4 meant. I did my research when they came out and that mean the middle axle on both trucks was not powered.

Even though the horn isn't correct to the real model as this MTH has a Nathan K5LLA and the real 4000 has a P5. Still sounds close. This video below isn't mine, but for myself I did get this model. I just like it to much. But the video below is someone elses I'm just sharing it. In my opinion, the paint is gorgeous on this model.
