Dead railing the engine is fairly simple. Biggest issue was finding a spot for the wire connector, and routing the wire, to the power unit, especially on the 623.
Also need a means of attaching the power pickup switch. In my case, it was easier, since I made a holder for the switches with my 3D printer.
So, on both the 623and 634, I cut the wire from the center rail pickup, and re-directed it to the switch, along with the incoming wire from the battery power unit. And then from the switch out to the engine motor.

In the modified caboose, pulled behind the engine. The battery would have fit in the 634 but not in the 623.

The yellow cradle containing the receiver/control board sits on top of the battery.

You will get greatly increased battery life with a can motor in the loco instead of the universal motor.

Thank you. Not sure at this point if i am willing to convert my engines. I like to keep them original. But i should definitely look into it.

I also still need to test the running time with my current setup, haven't done that yet.

And why use a caboose? Wouldn't a covered coil car ot a boxcar look better behind the loco and have a bit more room for maybe a larger battery.

It was simply because i liked the shorter length of the  caboose compared to my box cars, and i had one handy.

I might change it to a box car, though, at a later date.
