I have read a older post about lashups

Best NOT to use the "l----p" word around these here parts.

Well this is a Toy. Not a real railroad. Also Lionel the manufacturer of this Toy uses this terminology. Like anything else in life everyone has their own opinions. I am not here to start a argument over terminology. I am here to ask a question and get advice about a Toy. 

Wayne,  I'm just kidding.    There are a couple of full sized RRer folks on board here who can get wrangled with that term.

I also am fully persuaded that we all have some degree of arrested development playing with our toy trains.  

Anyone operating "steam" engines with electricity having decorative side rods flopping in the wind making artificial sounds rolling on three over wide, oversized hollow rails with curves that could turn an entire train around in a scale football field (like I do on a regular basis) is playing with a toy. 

What makes me smile is when my friends wearing unique costumes following little white balls around a big lawn look down their noses at me.

It is my understanding that if you build a lash up using a Legacy engine and a TMCC engine, the TMCC engine should be the lead engine.  I have an Atlas TMCC with no cruise that I put in front of Legacy engine and I leave the Odyssey switch ON and they seem to function OK.  I suspect that in your set up, the diesel will do most of the work but it should be able to handle it.

Yep, and I am one of them.

If your "lashup" isn't working right, you probably need more rope to tie the units together tighter.

I knew you were kidding. I just wanted to make sure people understand I am not here for advice about the real trains and their terminology. I grew up with family that worked for the railroad.  Thats why i posted the manual that states Lionel’s terminology. If they dont like that terminology then they should reach out to lionel and ask them to correct it. 

I have often wondered why model train importers (hate that word) frequently use the "TOY" word on their boxes???  Always on electrical supplies.  Might just be a preemptive legal reason.

Thank you Don.  I appreciate the advice. I just didnt know whether to turn on or off the odyssey switch.
