I am looking to add a few photo backdrops in O and was wondering where is a good resource to select from?

I have a need for industrial buildings and hill side country.

Some I may just cut the buildings out from the photo...

What have you guys done to fill that back wall? Need some ideas.

Thanks!

The club was looking for backgrounds. At the last moment we decided to make our own. We contacted a graphics company next door to see if they could help. They do car wraps and large displays. We discussed the possibilities and worked a price. We would supply the photos, they would print and mount.  The hard part was to find the right subject. For our purpose we needed a high viewpoint for the proper perspective. We found appropriate bridges in the area that got us up about 75 feet.  A great photographer got the shots, did the panoramas, and photo-shopped the extra blems.  It cost a bit more but the results are OUR area, and no one else has anything like it.  Photos will be seen soon on our website.  Along with photos of the new layout construction.

i use www.LARCProducts.com you purchase dvds and selects what you , set to your scale and print on to photo paper of your choice with your own printer cut out and applie to form board . works great check them out . TECHMAN

If you find scenes on a stockphoto site that you would like to use, they have id numbers. The print shop quite possibly has subscriptions to these sites and will download the images.  Of course its easier to talk to your shop to see who they can deal with.  That was the procedure the club used when we contacted MO GRAPHICS in New Lenox.  Kevin there guided the selection process.

After looking at 10,000 'Chicago Panorama' images, I found nothing that was exactly what I wanted. Thats when we got the photographer and got our own images that MO Graphics was able to print and mount. We now have about 110 feet of photo backdrop.

How would one go about getting the information to a print shop to have it printed ?

If you are using a local shop, the easiest thing would be to put the image on a flash drive. If you are using an internet service, they will probably have a facility to upload the file.

You most likely will have to rescale the image, and probably crop to fit the size you want. This gets a little complicated since you will be changing the resolution of the image. If you don't understand such things, it would be best to find a shop that will do this for you. Easy for them, but they would have to understand what you are trying to accomplish. One thing to realize is that each pixel is going to be pretty big. You will often get a warning about low-resolution. It is OK because of the viewing distance, but unless the provider understands, they will fret about it.

Such issues are why you might consider one of the hobby-oriented vendors. They cost a lot more, but if you don't enjoy this kind of thing, it may be well worth it.
