My oh my, that is quite a start for a first layout.  Do update as you progress.  Lots of bridges, risers, track and a sweet looking Big Boy.  Fill us in on how you decided to engage in the model train hobby.  Their has to be some kind of history preceding this first layout.  Just curious.....

Hi Wood my uncle got me interested in model railroading he had an amazing Ho layout, my dad would take us over every few months to see what new updates he had done to it. I loved to see him run the trains. My uncle inspired me to build  my own Ho layout in my parents basement. so I have always had an interest in trains and have been wanting to build an o gauge layout for the last few years and decided now is the time.

Well done!  You have a very nice space to run your trains and the layout looks great.  I look forward to following your progress.

Good morning Howard, Thanks for the info on your background.  I think a large majority of us had some kind of inspirational mentor in our family or friends who began the model train journey in our youth.  I chuckle to myself when I remember the layouts my Mother and Father put together every Christmas.  When I began my layout, one of the guiding lights was my wish that Dad could see what I had accomplished!!

 

Good luck, it looks fantastic and have lots of fun.  Your mentor will be proud....

Howard, one of my nicest layouts was just like yours with an attic do-over project. It turned out to be a fantastic project and proved to be very comfortable and useful space. Good thinking o n your part.
