Can anyone tell who made this brass 4-8-4 and what vintage it might be. Was it a kit? It appears on a well-known auction site, was listed a while ago without selling, and has now appeared again at the same price (IIRC).
Sure. CLW's version of the Scalecraft Northern, fully equalized, leaf-sprung drivers. No prototype, but can be modified to a credible 17/64 early UP Northern. Typical used value in the range of $300-$350.
Mine got a new cab, new firebox, new domes, aluminum tender with Lobaugh Centipede truck, new cylinder block, etc. Close, but still not an exact scale model.
