I would like more Strasburg products. I have the RTR set plus all of the add on cars and the girder bridge. I plan on getting the covered bridge. How about a water tower and a passenger station?
A dozen or so locos would be ahead of #90.

Don't forget #90 roots, the Great Western RR. Can be done in both paint jobs. Hauling hoppers of sugar beets.
Living only 35 minutes from Strasburg and I really like number 90 I would say yes.
If lionel or MTH made it, I'm in.

I don't think it had the extended smokebox early in it's life. I will have to dig my book out 'Sugar Tramp' and check it out.

Possibly the reason your not seeing #90 even as a brass hybrid is that Lionel has never offered a 2 -10-0.
The Santa Fe mikado uses Lionels/k Line aquired chassis.
Several runs of die-cast locos have been produced with this chassis.
The new N&W k2 uses Lionels 4-8-2 mountain chassis which has also appeared in multiple runs of die cast offerings.
If Lionel were to offer the Strasburg 90 as a brass hybrid. New chassis tooling would be needed,not cost effective for a small custom brass run.

That would be sad. People are always asking for new tooling and I thought this would be a no brainer. Besides, it's a great looking steamer and would not need huge curves. BigRail
I believe that MTH would be the logical choice as manufacturer of the 2-10-0. I believe they have already made one in the past and probably could reuse that chassis for #90. Just my thoughts.

Not exactly. GW 90 has 56" drivers while a Russian decapod has 52" drivers.

Hey Pete....I have those passenger cars and they are gorgeous. I have a Strasburg 475 Mollie pulling them.
I forgot to actually respond to the question at hand. Yes, most definitely I would buy one. It is probably the loco that is on the top of my list right now.
I would be in for #90. But it appears that I am in the minority.
I would say go-to Scott Mann and 3rd rail but at 2g for a brass steamer, I would be out. I missed the Strasburg Mollie. Maybe it will hit a Stout auction one of these days.

MTH has shown to be open for suggestions on future offerings. Lionel, not so much. I would think you would have a much better chance if you made this suggestion directly to MTH.

None of the above.
There is a very short list of locos which would make me grit my teeth and spend my money, and #90 is not on it. Any of the ten-wheelers rostered by Frisco, Cotton Belt, or MKT would do it. So would Frisco's 1522, or one of MoPac's no-two-alike 6600 class pacifics (disc center driver and sheet-metal pilot, please).
Last year was a western road, this year an eastern road. Next year in the midwest? One can hope. But I still think you'll see #90 before anything on my list. I'll just be here, saving my money...

This, with the Little River 2-4-4-2, share the top space on my list, if it is made available in Great Western livery. And l accept no substitutes. I already have a GW beet dump and sugar beet plant taking up space.
Nothing would make me happier than a Strasburg 90. I missed the Mollie's 3rd rail made so I really would love one of these.
I would buy one of these in a heartbeat, as the Strasburg is about half an hour from me, and I love the 90. Amazing beast when you get to see it close up. You could do a triple header with the Lionel CN 89 and 3rd rail NW 475 in O scale. They have made 89 and passenger cars, so why not just add the 90 to the fray?
I can see where Strasburg #90 has either a strong following or some could care less. I think it also depends on your connection to the locomotive and whether you have seen it in person. For me, it was the engine to the first real train I rode, and I have gone back and seen in many times since then. It is a great locomotive. If Lionel or MTH made this engine and a set with cars, I would order one without much thought.

Come on guys...this is the engine they make postcards and brochures of. This is the face of the Strasburg RR...the oldest short line in America. And it's frigging beautiful. Imagine this with whistle steam, billowing smoke and amazing actual recorded digital sounds taken from the real deal. I would love to convince Lionel or MTH to do this. I know we here represent a small corner of the ogauge universe but numbers still count for something. And it's never been done. Next time York comes around I encourage all to stop by the Strasburg RR and see this beauty in person and up close. I guarantee love at first sight. BigRail

Not necessarily. I've been to Strasburg, ridden behind #90 and think it's a fine locomotive. But I wouldn't be interested in a model of it. It's all a matter of individual tastes.

That’s a fair statement, and I understand where you are coming from. I believe that those who have seen the engine are more likely to be the same people who would buy a model of #90.
I often see the number of 1000 thrown around as the magic number for a manufacturer to break even on a new model. I believe if #90 was produced with a set of passenger cars, it would sell well past that magic number. I could be wrong. At the same time, I think #90 has a great following that would rise to support the manufacturing of a set.
One of the last O-scale offerings from Lionel was a very good Union Pacific Big Boy, with noted depleting coal load. A large model, that was retail priced well over $2,000. A very good #90 model, in today's market, could be expensive. IMO. Mike CT.

Considering MTH has made two different manufacturing runs of Strasburg 64' wood-sided passenger cars which sold out readily for both runs and are currently in high demand and infrequently seen in the secondary marketplace, I'd guess that a highly detailed, quality #90 loco, if made available, would be extremely attractive even without being in a set with Strasburg passenger cars.
