Officially, I'd say that needs to be asked of the organizers and/or hotels they are held at. I would also suspect they are in "wait and see" mode right now, at least until the EDTCA (or State of PA if the orders from the Governor become more widespread in either locale or duration) makes a decision.
Logically, even though the bandits are "independent", I would suspect the reality is still that most of the attendees (and some vendors who do both) would probably not be there if the main TCA event doesn't happen.
I know that's not true for locals like you, but I don't have a good handle on how many true local people there are in the division. I know the ED is big enough there are many members who have to travel a lot longer/further to get to York than I do.

Dave said it well. I would think it's a virtual certainty that if the York Meet is cancelled so will the bandit meets.

I won't be making the trip if the Meet is cancelled.
If York is cancelled, I would imagine that everything else happening that week will also be cancelled.

You-all have to be kidding, right? There are four cases now in our small town in Western Ma. Allegheny County, Pa where we are currently visiting is closing every business except pharmacies, grocery stores and gas stations.
STAY HOME AND STAY ISOLATED.
If the show is canceled, there wouldn't be any buyers there for a bandit meet.
California Governor says if 65 or older stay home.
There goes 90% of the likely train show customers.
Governor is also ordering Bars & Nightclubs to Close, so you cannot drink you regrets away,( away from home, that is.)
So buy a case of beer at the supermarket and run your trains.
I just got an email saying CDC is ordering groups over 50 to cancel! So...this ain't good!
In line with Geysergazer....YOU ALL ARE KIDDING ABOUT STILL ATTENDING EVEN A BANDIT MEET? Do yourself and everyone ELSE a favor....stay home, and do not go out in public very often. Apparently, infected people take awhile to show signs that THEY ARE infected...so by just walking around, they unknowingly spread the virus. STAY HOME, and open some old train boxes...!!! Craignor may be correct.....let the Pirates take over....yaaargghh!

Some folks just can't accept reality......or that they might actually be at risk or be putting others at risk.

I missed the October meet last year (Navy reunion), so I'm in a sort of train withdrawal. Guess I'll have to make do with my "retirement projects".

The State will not permit the bandit meets to operate. That is clear as daylight.

Good thing I live in the land of beer (WI), as all Miller has done so far was to cancel factory tours.
As much as most of us would like to not realize this, we are in the high risk group. It is prudent to stay away from larger groups for as long or longer than necessary. These are uncharted waters however we are presented with the opportunity to make a great deal of progress on out layouts or other endeavors.
Really- a few of you care more about buying, selling, or both, some toy trains than you care about possibly spreading and or transmitting covid-19 to others by attending bandit meets?
I don't know what such a mindset indicates more - a lack of thoughtfulnessor arrogance towards others.
Here's a novel idea - for the present time try being satisfied with the trains you already have.

I do live in PA... luckily I took note of the fact that, over the weekend, the Governor closed all the state stores in 4 counties around Philly that had cases of the virus - the proverbial handwriting on the wall. I stocked up on Monday!!! The really bad part is they also shut down all online sales. Fortunately, I got one of the last orders out of their warehouse. Now I just have to remember - no drinking and driving trains

I recommend staying home in self-quarantine (until such time as the government eliminates the "self" part of that term) and working on your layouts or just plain running trains (great therapy for the mind). If the "gotta-buy-some-trains" bug bites after a few days, you can easily contact most of the dealers who support the magazine and this forum. The majority of them will be happy to take and ship your orders even if their actual brick-and-mortar store is closed, AND they could really use your business during this difficult time.

I've blocked most of the news media from my social media for 30 days and have not watched the news because of the constant beating of this drum. I hope I don't have to log off OGR for 30 days because of the same. Yes this is serious, yes we should be diligent, and take seriously the recommendations but the fear mongering and gloom and doom isn't what got this country through it's toughest times. Without the noise on my social media pages I can get back to watching the rescue pups and animal rescues. I'm not sticking my head in the sand over this but I'll keep an eye on the sites that count (CDC being one) and away from the drama.
While many disagree with Alan "Adman" from letting these posts continue, I find it a nice change to go to the train forum and not have to hear how we're all doomed.
As far as the Bandit meets, they'll be back when its allowed too. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they'll be cancelled.
Me thinks everyone should read "O GAUGE GUY"s post above and think about his words for a minute or so....succinct advice, and straight thinking. May you Forumites be careful, be kind to each other...look out for neighbors, especially the elderly. Perhaps do a grocery run for them. Now as far as beer/liquor....as a Marylander...our stores are open...and I recommend scotch whiskey...for medicinal proposes ONLY!

You think I don't have to venture out for food, medications, and other necessities for my wife and me, along with the extended family that is temporarily living with us? Total of four adults, one toddler, one baby, and two dogs? And I am WAY over that 60 age limit where reportedly I should not be going out at all. Give me a break!
And my wife goes out to work six days a week, often 10-12 hours a day now, as a manager at Chick-fil-A.
I was referring to the time one has to spend at home (per government and medical authority recommendation), or should be spending at home, until such time as things get a bit better. A good amount of that somewhat "forced leisure time" if you have it, can certainly be devoted to a hobby that over time has proved time and again to be very good for the mind, and even the body, in a number of ways. After I had six bypasses in open heart surgery in 2000, my surgeon told me to "go home and play with the trains." I took his advice then and try to follow it now, and I am a living example today that the advice he gave was darn good.
Sounds like folks are getting stir-crazy already, let's not end up tearing into each other. This situation is not the fault of anyone here, right? I think most of us frequent the forum because we enjoy the interaction. I'd hate to see us kill that feeling with all this animosity, we're all in this together!

You know, my brother and I were talking the other day, and what is going on is something only the really old can relate to in a way. My late Uncle Eddie was born in 1930. He told me how this one person who would get what you needed during tough times if able as some things were restricted like sugar and such. He went on saying my grandmother would ask for sugar, and other hard to get items. The man would state that these were hard to get, but he would be able to manage some of what my grandmother asked for. This was in part to he liked her peach pie, and the sugar was needed to make it.
We as Americans are used to getting what we want without consequences or issues. Well, now is the time to really find out what you want and what you need. Which is more important to you? I have had a very fortunate life in that even though I may not have had as much as others growing up, it was a great and charmed life. If I could stay home, I would, and I would definitely play with trains quite a bit more than what I typically have time for at the moment.
Saturday I would be going to my LTS, but I will call Friday to see if they will be open. See what they say then and hope for the best. If I have to stay put, I can always put CC to good use for anything there. See what comes.

Order over the phone, they pack it up, you pay with credit card, and pick it up at the back door all the while swiveling your head both ways looking out for others:-) We've ordered items with friends from sponsors and had them shipped.

That is great Pete. My coworker Bob had his car spray painted by vandals during the night most likely. They got his car and everyone else who parked the street. People need to be responsible and sensible. Sure, you can go to the well many times, but you might just come up with an empty bucket of you keep going.
I'm fortunate to be a reader (2+books a week). I'm currently on book 6 of a 11 volume "sea adventure" series.
If the President involked the Stafford act, and you had to stay in Your house or apartment and never venturing outside for as long as the emergency lasted, toy trains are not that important ,eh!
I was thinking of the bandit meets also----NOT . Who would think of something like that.

I think Allen was right on in his comments. Personally, I don't have any problem staying at home. I have some work to do, and more interests to pursue than I have time for, and it gives me a chance catch on my unending list of things to do and look at. I also have lots of books to read, and enjoy surfing the internet for all kinds of things.
It's a shame that this is happening, and likely there will be changes in our society and the way we do things that will be permanent as a result of this. However, it is very interesting to see how this is unfolding, and from that perspective I spend a lot of time following events as they are happening, and keeping informed. I hope we are learning something to arm ourselfs in case of future events that may be similar, and that we overcome the American habit of forgetting history and its lessons as soon as a crisis is over.

At least in CA we can still buy beer, wine and liquor. All the grocery stores, drug stores, and even gas stations carry it and unlike toilet paper it isn't sold out. We probably need a government run toilet paper store these days so that everyone can get their fair share.
Now if only the train stores weren't sold out. Oh, now I remember that the local train stores closed long ago. I guess that I will need to order something online from an OGR advertiser. NH Joe
