Ink jet decal paper

I bought mine from Micro Mark.

Yes, I have looked at their product, but it is way more money than I was paying for the Evan Design paper.

Yes I just called Evan and they are no longer making Decal paper. What a shame I really liked their product. But they were having problems producing it.

If you find something similar please post it.

I've never been able to make inkjet decal paper work. Prints just fine, but refuses to release from the paper and slide onto the loco/tender body without stretching and losing its shape.

Plenty of choices on Amazon for $.50 to $.70 per sheet in 20 packs.

I’ve been using laser decal paper because I never got very good results with inkjet paper.  I use Bare Metal clear laser paper.  First I make a high resolution master using glossy photo paper in my home printer, an Epson inkjet. Then I take it to Staples and have them run it off on the decal paper.  The cost ranges from nothing to about 85 cents, depending on how the copy tech is feeling that day.

This is a useful way of making O-scale decals when all that is available is HO.  You scan the HO sheet, resize it and take out the blue background (I use PhotoShop), then print it out and take it to Staples.

You still have the problem of not being able to make white letters.  That’s when I turn to Highball Graphics.

Peter, which brand are you using? Amazon offers several choices.

Thanks to all for your comments. The folks in our hobby are always willing to help with questions and issues.

I use Koala brand inkjet sheets I got off eBay. I just bomb the decals once or twice with some flat clear before using.

I am about to try and start printing my own decals.  Do you have to spray the paper with a clear coat before or after printing?

After it's printed.

I've considered creating a decals for my various projects but didn't want to waste money on products that don't work very well.  So after reading this thread I looked on Amazon and they show 28 options for waterslide decal paper.  I'm thinking a bit more product info than just "Amazon" would be helpful.
